Seventh Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7)

Apoorva Arya, co-founder and CEO of Circular Innovation Lab, has been nominated as a Coordinating Lead Author of the Circularity Transformation Pathways chapter of the Seventh Edition of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7) - 'Actions for a Healthy Planet'.

The Global Environment Outlook (GEO) is a series of reports that review the state and direction of the global environment. It is the independent expert-led assessment of the environment and the flagship report of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), providing an assessment of the state of the global environment at regional, national, and local levels.

Objective

The GEO provides an assessment of the current state of the environment, an evaluation of the effectiveness of policies and actions taken to address environmental issues, and projections of future environmental trends. Building on previous assessments, it explores the solutions pathways that are available for the transformation of the interdependent global energy, food and waste systems and current economic and financing models.

The Circularity Transformation Pathways chapter will assess links between resource extraction and waste and explore solutions pathways for transforming linear economic models to circular ones, including, but not limited to: shifting resource extraction to resource recovery, systems and operations for tracking and recovering resources.
